How to renew a gun violence restraining order
How to renew a gun violence restraining order
The Gun Violence Restraining Order After Hearing or Consent to Gun Violence Restraining Oder (form GV-130) will last 1 to 5 years. To see when your order expires, look at form GV-130, item 3. Once the order ends the restrained person will no longer have to follow the order.
If you are still concerned and want the firearms restraining order to stay in place, you have to ask the court to “renew” it, which makes it last another 1-5 years.
You must ask the court to renew your restraining order before your current one ends.
Follow the steps below to ask the judge to renew your restraining order.
