How to ask to change or end a restraining order
Either side in a case, the protected or the restrained person, can ask to change or end a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO).
Follow the steps below to ask the judge to change or end the restraining order. If you are asking to change a child custody or visitation (parenting time) order, you may also have to meet with a court mediator.

  1. Ask to change or end the restraining orderFill out forms and file them with the court. You will get a court date.

  2. Serve the other sideAnother adult , not you, delivers a copy of the request to the other side. This is called serving court papers.
